A prayer and a poem to save your sanity on a day that the world got turned upside down...
Something to help ease the mind from the stormy seas x
**I’ve just noticed when I popped in the above photo it must have deleted my intro….so here we go take two :)
Today I send to you two pieces of writing which have helped me through many a dark day or night. The first piece I include is the serenity prayer which was given to me by a very wise priest after my dad passed. This prayer I say daily and often use it as my guiding post when I simply do not know what to do in a situation. it gives me great strength adn reminds me that there are simply times in our lives when we need a signpost on what to do next or if to do anything. I hope it helps you in this moment of need too.
The second piece is a poem that I also lean on heavily when I feel tired and fed up and especially when I want to give up. It is often read in a ‘Healing Mass for the sick’ that I attend by another very lovely priest. Both these wise men have been instrumental in my faith - my faith to look for the light when all that surrounds me seems dark. I hope these pieces of writing help you as much as they help me :)
I hope they help you feel a little less lost and remind you to hold on and to breathe as we travel through this very uncertain time. Just to mention to my American friends, in the midst of your chaos, our Taoiseach - The leader of our country - decided to announce a general election here for the 29th of November. 23 days time we vote…at possibly one of the worse times in the world, our leaders are trying to blindfold us too. Yes it is not on the same scale as yourselve but for our little island where so many are being let down by the government this is a real sly move to push through a general election when people are already stressed. I too am leaning heavily on the serenity prayer for wisdom and it helps, it really does. Anyways lets say the serenity prayer together here now. For real impact I’ve recorded it in the audio above and I repeat it twice for effect. So my brain can not only hear the words, but the second time, my heart and soul breathes it in. Down below I’ve included a poem I lean on a lot too and I hope it helps you today too x
Love always and even though it’s very hard, lets keep looking up.
Feel free to hit play on the audio above and we might recite the prayer and poem together. I really think that might help your heart. Together is where extra magic is formulated. Go on. Give it a whirl. Hit play,
Love Lou x
The Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Don’t Quit
By Edgar A. Guest
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low but the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many failures turn about
When we might have won had we stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
You can never tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
xx
Thank you so much for this, Lou!! Much needed and appreciated today!! <3
Thanks Louise. Xx 😘
