Hello there lovely Substack family,
How are you doing? I hope well. Sending you lots of good vibes to keep you looking up and keep your motoring along this path! You are doing great!
This week’s substack opens with a collection of all the moments of joy, happiness and love I experienced this week!
The reason I am focusing on these is that the power in how we feel often is intringely entangled in how we think about ourselves and our lives….Ok let me explain myself a little better here…..See I LOVE the brain! And my most favourite part of the brain is that it hears everything you say to yourself, it sees every moment that happens and it is permanently soaked in all the thoughts that swirl around your mind. I am a huge advocate for mindset and the power of it. So if I was to make a list of all the things I felt sad about this week, I would instantly bring my brains focus onto the negatives and I do not want to do that. Instead I am going to focus on the good points, the positive attributes of my week and most importantly the places where I found JOY and in turn the moments it which I created memories where good feelings will live forever. I love that by using our minds and brains to focus on the good -our hearts then feel the benefit & in turn our mindset can really benefit from that energy so this week, even though there were many wobbles for me, I still found over the last seven days lots of moments, things and people to be joyful with or about. I’ve created a little mini list and as you know how much I love taking photographs so I’m including photographs to go along with them. See when I focus on the joy, however small they might seem, they remind me that they are actually the most important parts of my life. The wobbles, slips, sad moments and lost feelings are just temporary in the big picture. I will and do move through them. And when the grey clouds pass, wow the blue sky is even more amazing than it was before. As my little saying goes, ‘we must stand under the rain showers to see a rainbow’. So this week i’m focusing on the joys of the last week. I’d love if you might pop down three joys you have experienced this week. They can be small joys or bigs joys- either ways once you have joy in your life, we can pass through anything that meets us. That is the power of compassion, feelings your feelings and giving yourself grace to pass through the rain and opening your eyes to see the rainbow! Keep looking up my substack stars!
So here we go…..
A few of my favourite things, moments of the last week:
Painting By Numbers
I love colouring….always have so a few months ago I bought myself a paint by numbers set. Up to now I didn’t have time to sit down with it or just put it to the side so this week, I took it out and oh the joy….The lovely feeling of my brain having no pressure whatsoever as it followed the numbers around the canvas - it was so much fun. I felt like a child in first class again and as many of you know, I love experiencing the joy that our childhood offer…I highly recommend it to anyone out there looking for a light, fun pastime. I spotted on the fabulous
IG page this week, that she too was painting by numbers…..Ps. Do subscribe to Claire’s substack - she’s such a good egg and her new book ‘Where The Pieces Land’ is out now - Grab your copy here.
Spending time with three of my favourite small people on the school runs
I love the joy and honour it is to spend morning time with the three small ones in this photo. They are so cute and run in the door to greet me with hugs and kisses. What better way could one start the day and I love our breakfast routine, teeth washing and then a little fun time before we’re all out to the car with bags and lunches in tow. This is a special sort of magic that an aunty gets to experience and I know this unconditional love I hold for them is returned to me with every hug, kiss and hand held. I see it in their eyes and for that I am eternally grateful for this moment in my life. Love is everything!
The blue blue skies
Well you know me and my obsession with the sky. Thankfully for us Irish people, we can finally report sunshine of the best kind has finally arrived and we are all loving it. There is nothing as beautiful as the sun shining above our heads and the vast blue sky surrounding it…..For me, it’s what heaven looks like. Between the magic of sunrise and the beauty of sunset I will never be able to pick my favourite but am I, and the whole country so thrilled it’s finally here. From the dark of winter, we will enjoy this summer sun and we will pack it into our backpacks for when the seasons move once again. But for now, we will enjoy, embrace and just pause and look up!
The green green grass
Well as I mentioned last week, it was silage week on our dairy farm and it was fun filled and busy. I wasn’t involved in the busy haha ;) but I throughly enjoyed the buzz about our farm and weaving myself in among all the processes….and well…there was a lot of grass….The reason our country is know for its green is because our weather allows our grass to turn a very special shade of green. And sure we wouldn’t be Irish if we didn’t love our green green grass!
Irish Strawberries
Well this is my first taste of the seasonal Wexford strawberries that all us Irish love so much. I can tell you, there is nothing like Irish strawberries. Again I’d imagine our unusual Irish weather must be involved in these and my god do they taste like……MORE!!!!
Playing Chess with my bigger favourite smaller people
This is a photo of me with Anthony and Nathan who I love dearly. Again the aunty role is something I take very seriously….well not seriously…but I absolutely love…..I love these lads so much…..So during the week we were hanging out - silage times….I love playing chess but haven’t played for awhile so I took out the board and just like always, I knew what these boys would say if I proposed any idea to them. They ALWAYS say YES! Yes to everything, yes to anything and they do it with a smile on their face. I am glad to report for the first time back the chess board, I just very tightly won but only by luck. I am absolutely sure they will beat me every single time out from here.
Witnessing a really good film in the cinema - I know a shock for me too but Fast X is such a well produced movie…..Book yourself a ticket and tell what you don’t love, you will find it hard to find faults….It’s action packed with great dialogue…. plot lines galore, soundtrack choice is great and just a really solid must see. The two hours speeds by (no pun) in no time. You won’t even look at your watch, you will be that engrossed in the action….I put my hands up to my face a number of times (I’m a total scardy pants!) but I loved every second of this movie! It needs to be seen in the cinema - for two reasons - to keep our cinema’s open for business and also because the high intense action just need to be on that big screen. The question I always ask people about films is would you go to see it again to really get the feel of someone’s feedback….and to that question I myself would answer YES!!! It says it all doesn’t it?! Have you seen it? Have you been to the cinema lately? I want to see so much…..Let me know what you have loved lately or is there anything you want to go see?
7.A Popcorn
All I can say is no matter what happens in life, everything can be made better (for me anyways) with popcorn in the equation. There just is no match to a bag of popcorn while watching a great film in the cinema…. What’s your favourite goodie when you go to the cinema? Do you enjoy popcorn? I’m smiling just thinking of my return to the cinema for this reason alone! ;)
