Fun is driving the car, Joy is the passenger & Happiness my destination!
The journey to contentment lies in our hands!
One of my favourite words in life is not a big word!
Nope instead it is a very small word……
One of the smallest words in the dictionary (and the scrabble board too)….and now that I’ve chosen to write about this word, I can’t write about it without writing about another one of my favourite words….So today’s Substack will indeed be about two words….. which in turn will lead to a third word! I promise this will make sense as you read on ;)
They both have three letters in them and they both kind of mean the same thing when I think about it or at least one leads to the other!
Anyone that knows me very well will hear me refer to these words regularly!
I decided a long time ago that these words are really important to me and in any communications I have, people will hear me refer to them. I now notice many people who I’ve spoken to or those who read my words, now use them more too - which is a win for us all!
And these two magic words are the following: FUN & JOY!
FUN - such a small little word and what a great power lies within it.
With fun, life becomes so much lighter. I believe once I keep fun in my life & as my focus, I will always have my other favourite word in my life too - JOY! Amazingly joy is another three letter word! A reminder that the little things in life really can be the big players on this journey.
I believe that life is indeed all about the small things and no matter how hard life gets or what happens to us, if we keep fun in the mix, we will always have joy too! Even when things are bearing heavy on us, to lean on the light is something I’ve trained my brain to do & it hasn’t failed me yet! It has taken many years for me to have this mindset as default but myself, fun and joy are now the best of friends & I’m never letting go of them! The most wonderful parts about fun and joy is that, more often that not, they lie in the simplest of situations. Give me a cup of tea and your company & I will arrive at happiness within minutes!
And what is the point of this life, without fun right?!?
To live without laughter - in my opinion - is to not live at all. To live without JOY and FUN is only half living. It would be like having a lovely car outside your front door and never driving it anywhere!
Another thing I love to do is to smile! I LOVE smiling. It is my default in life and I love it. With a smile on my face, FUN & JOY are never far away and where there is fun and joy - HAPPINESS lives!
I do believe it is up to us what we bring to this game of life. What we bring to the table is in turn what we will be served with. If our brain feels happy, our face will display happiness and in turn our heart will be full of happiness too! Life is so short and it is so fragile, so when the opportunity presents itself to have & bring fun and joy, I say, bring your A-Game.
You need not be a clown or a joker! No…. instead a soft gentle act of kindness, a handful of fun and a dose of joy can turn any situation from darkness into light! In this life it is how you act that will in turn contribute to how you feel, and ultimately your behaviour and personality will play a big factor in how others feel too! The magic of fun, joy and laughter are without doubt priceless & invaluable keys to the doors of happiness!
Again, without happiness, how dark and lonely this world would be! My aim for the remainder of my time on this earth is to have as much fun as I possibly can squeeze in - knowing that JOY will be its passenger and as every sunsets, happiness my destination!
I do not know the length of my stay in this world so every morning when I open my eyes, I try my best to bring my two best friends FUN & JOY along with me so when the sunsets, I know I’ve smiled and maybe as a bonus I made someone else smile too!
Do you have enough fun in your life? What brings you joy? Are you living a life that makes you happy? I’d love to hear from you! Do you think we are living lives that are fun and joy filled or has the world lost its spark in ways? What do you think? Feel free to leave a comment below with your thoughts!
