It’s that time in between….
In between summer and winter.
The unsure step of whether we are really in winter yet or can we hold a little longer onto that summer sun.
Yes the temperature might be dropping but thank god the light is still here.
Slowly it is stepping away from us but it is not gone yet.
The blues, the greens, the autumnal browns are holding their own.
The leaves are gripping tightly on and the light is winning the battle of the dark, for now.
We are a week into October and Ireland is looking ever so pretty.
The changing of colours reminds me that it’s ok to let go.
It’s what nature does with such ease and it doesn’t explain itself to anyone.
Animals move across the emerald green landscape and make their way to sheltered habitats.
Some made by themselves, some provided by the custodians of the lands in which they walk.
All natural to their surroundings.
Nature will do what nature does.
And we as humans will work within those remits to survive and thrive.
Nature too will do what it needs to survive and thrive.
The skies above move, shape and change as they feel.
The brave strong clouds pushing the blue seas of heaven forward and the blue oceans of the skies pushing the white spread of clouds backwards.
Forward. And backwards. But always moving onwards as the main theme of who they are.
Just like us, the sky changes, sometimes with notice and sometimes without.
The vast and brave tree trunks hold firm throughout it all. They never let go.
Only if they get really tired and their time is really up.
A bit like ourselves, they must believe that they can withstand all cold winds that blow, no matter how intense the storm gets.
They are the root leaders for all those that connect to their standing.
We see them. They see us.
We stand tall together.
We will only let go if something greater asks us to step back.
The tall strong beautiful tree is the oxygen to all our lungs and the shelter for so many.
The sun rises and sets to help us find our way.
The sun gives us light and takes away the dark.
The sun never fails to turn up and is consistent and beautiful.
It opens the door to my beginning and helps me close my day when it’s time to rest.
Nature is my religion and the sun keeps the light on without question or condition.
It is a friend that never goes away and it is an unknown companion to our days until we look up.
And then somewhere in between nature is me.
I am moving along, one foot in front of the other.
Step by step and day by day I share this world and what I witness.
I look up and around and notice all the beauty that accompanies me.
It was all here before I arrived and it will all be here after I am long gone.
I feel lucky to be alive to see nature do what it does.
Yes sometimes it hurts us. It can hurt it really bad.
But I know that is not its intention.
Nature cannot be anything but who it is.
And a bit like humans, sometimes it forces us out of the way for its own survival and I’m sure it regrets its own behaviour and action.
On all the other days it is amazingly spectacular and often we forget to notice it.
It is here for us to help us through.
The seasons are our our friends.
The light and dark align with what is inside you.
Lean in, look up and move like nature does, one leaf at a time, one cloud at a time, and one sun at time.
Shine, stand tall and remember we are all just passing through this world.
Thank you for being part of my world and for reading/listening to my work….Thanks a million for opening the email that had my name on it too! :)
