Hello Louise, writing from the heart and through your experiences as ever wonderfully portrayed.
Step by step as you retell your night time routines with your dear granny Nancy, I too can resonate with similar experiences at end of life with my loved ones who now rest in heaven. . You somehow manage to accept not being able to say the goodbyes you thought you might have had, but you would never let go of their hand if you knew the obvious. There is solace knowing that you were with them right at the end for sure. The ‘Laba’ definitely is where we feel comforted, warm and cosy with a weighted blanket I might add to calm, hold and hug us in the still of the night until thankfully a new day begins whilst Living and laughing with Lou always, love you lots .
Dolores you are a wonderful wordsmith yourself. I love reading your messages and comments...you write straight from the heart...such a beautiful heart you have! Thank YOU so so much for always supporting me and being such a good friend to me. I appreciate it so much and love you lots xxx

So beautiful, Lou. I followed your substack after LWS writers’ hour yesterday. So happy I did. Thank you for sharing so much of your heart with us. Sending hugs. ♥️
Lou I listened to your very touching story. I feel I am a kindred soul because I became the live in caregiver to my mother for the last four years of her life. She had a stroke and lost her balance and then we became housebound. I too made the promise to be with her until the end but it didn't turn out that way, Three months before she died she became ill and had to go to a nursing home. It was the height of the Covid and they would not allow visitors. We spoke on the phone and we saw her the day before she passed, I wrote the following to help me with my grief;
Aw Douglas sending you all the love in my heart. You are a wonderful person and I've no doubt your mam is so proud of you of how you have coped since she left. Life is very tough and it was much tougher in those covid times. Sending you all my love and thanks so much for sharing your beautiful writing.
This was a lovely read, full of the little details of the tender wonder in your relationship with your gran. I did notice you veered back and forth with an uppercase/lowercase g in God - was that intentional or a typo?
Thanks a million Jane. you are so good to read all my words and for your beautiful message and encouraging support as always. Love to you and yep it was accidental typo haha ;) That and a load more probably haha ;) Love you lots and thanks a million for being you, Lou xxx

The love I had from you,
I cannot express,
You made my life a success.
I'm lost in my daydream,
I will again hear you say my name,
In the hereafter that we will maintain.
Spelled out in black and white to obey,
I see shades of gray,
I pray for another day.
The pang of sadness procured,
My spirit will rise and I will be cured,
Reminded that our love endured.
Everyone passes to where love surpasses,
To where there is no past tense,
Our love will recommence.
